Saturday's Shoot

Where does the time go?!  Regular season is already done and I'd have to say we went out on a bang!  We had a week straight of great hunts.  Friday was just a teaser for what Saturday would bring.  The guys all shot real well and we cleaned house on 3 different flocks of 5, 7, and 6 geese.  Anytime that a pile of 27 canadas are killed its a great day but what put the cherry on the sunday was a mature snow goose that we killed!

Now we have a nice 10 day stretch to let the birds think they survived a goose season but to bad for them we'll be out on December 8th ready to put the grind on them again!  We only have a few spots open for the opener on the 8th so make sure to give us a call ASAP to reserve your spot.  That first weekend is filling up fast especially after people are seeing these pics.

Latest Hunts

First off I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  Here at Last Pass we are very thankful for all the people that come and hunt with us through out the fall and spring.  Another thing we are thankful for are fresh geese and lots of them!  This last week has been fun putting alot of geese on the ground.  Bryce, Dooby, Wes and Tim had a great hunt today and they were done with their limit by 7:45.

We will be hunting hard the next 2 days so if anyone is looking to get out give us a call and we'll put you on birds.

Migration

The snow and cold in the northern half of the state gave us a major migration on Sunday.  Bryce was hunting on the north part of town and I was on the west and we watched as thousands of geese came in all day long.  It was a great scene watching V after V migrate into Rochester.  The only draw back on the day was the number of birds killed.  Both fields harvested birds but it wasn't lights out like we thought it should have been.  The migrators would ball up on us and work us but would lose interest and then fly into town and sit on water.  The good news is we have a ton of new geese and with warm temps this week it should be great hunting for the Thanksgiving weekend.

We still have some opening for this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  The regular season ends on Sunday but will reopen on Thursday Dec 8th.  The opener is traditionally a good day to hunt and after a 10 day rest the geese should be care free to come into the decoy spreads.  There is still a few openings left for the opener on the 8th so give us a call if you'd like to come out hunting.

Good Times Are Here!

We've been getting guys out on some great hunts this last week.  Rochester has picked up alot of new birds that have been migrating in these last 5 days.  Nows the time to get down here and shoot some geese.  These new birds put on a show Saturday with geese in the decoys only 15 yards away!  Its officially GAME ON in Rochester!  It looks like this weekend should bring even more birds into town so keep your fingers crossed that this weather hits north of us.

Saturdays Hunt

Wednesday we had a flock of 30+ geese come in and the guys were able to knock 8 down out of it.  A single was later shot to fill the limit!

Sundays Hunt

The wind put a little damper on Sundays hunt but the guys still had a good time.  We had multiple flocks decoy to less than 20 yards but with the wind at 30+ mph at times it didn't take long for the geese to boogy out when we came up shooting.  We were able to let a young kid get his first shots off at geese.  Unfortunately he didn't bag any but he had a great time hunting and he was able to see geese up close and personal with 12 birds landing 8 yards in front of his pit door!  We ended the day with a handful of geese for 4 guys so overall it wasn't to bad considering the wind.

Our regular season runs through November 27th this year.  We have a week and a half break and then the late season opens up on December 8th.  The late season opener is traditionally a blood bath so make sure to book early because we have guys calling already.  The remainder of the season is going to be a grind!  We look forward to hunting with you.

Busy Busy

Besides chasing geese this week we've been very busy dropping pits in our new field.  Our new field is going to be a grinder!  We went out and opened up the new field this last sunday and the geese put on an amazing show.  We are looking forward to shooting alot of birds out of this new spot.  As you can see, there is alot of work that takes place behind the scenes.  Thanks to everyone that stopped out to help!
