Snow Goose Updates

As of February 7th there are around 750,000 geese on Squaw Creek.  Most of those birds have been there all fall/winter but with the nice weather the geese are starting to push up onto the refuge.  We still have some excellent days open in February.  The last 4 years or so many people are booking the beginning to middle of March which are great days but many people forget how great the days in late February can be.  If you haven't booked yet hurry and do so quickly.  The goose hunting is getting better and better every day!

*South Dakota Hunters*

As many of you have heard, the daily limit has been changed from 20/day to unlimited like our Missouri hunters have.  This is a great rule change and we look forward to taking advantage of it!!!

It's Getting Closer!

With all this warm weather its starting to feel more and more like snow goose season.  We've been getting all our snow goose sets ready and our gear is packed and ready to go!  A couple more weeks and we'll be heading out.  I can't wait!

We still have some weekday dates available and we just had a cancellation for the weekend of March 10th.  This is usually a great weekend to hunt so if you'd like to shoot a pile of geese give us a call.

End Of The Year

The end of the canada goose season has finally come and what a great season it was!  We had a few tough days but overall we had a ton of phenomenal hunts.  Its hard to believe that when the season closed in the beginning of January most of the geese were still to the north of us!

All of us here at Last Pass would like to thank you for coming and hunting with us.  We had a great time hunting with you all and it was nice to meet alot of new people.  Last Pass is very fortunate that all the people we hunt are fun to be around and like to have a great time out there in the field.  Thank you everyone for a great year!

Now its time to regroup and get all the gear ready for the gruelling snow goose season!  We still have a few openings left so get ahold of me or Bryce if you are interested in hunting this spring.

Still Time Left

All of us here at Last Pass want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!  I know most kids will be going to sleep on Christmas Eve dreaming about all the presents Santa will bring them.  But for all of us at Last Pass this is what we'll be dreaming of.  A giant flock of canadas gliding into the kill hole and everyone waiting for the buzzer!

Tick Tick Tick  Times a ticking on the remainder of this goose season and we still have a ton of birds here and more to the north that need to come down.  If you need to get out one more time this year give us a call and we'll be happy to get you out hunting.

Last 3 Hunts

The last 3 days have continued to be some good hunting.  Saturday we were excited to see a fresh new blanket of snow on the ground.  Bryce and I both thought it'd be a lights out hunt but it was actually kind of tough.  We ended the day with 9 geese but one of them was a really nice one that was banded.  And not just one band but 2 bands on its legs!  Congrats Devon for winning the drawing for the bands!  I apoligize for not getting a group photo but guys left throughout the day taking birds so by the end of the hunt there were only a few of us.

Sunday I had a day off but Bryce went out with 4 other guys.  They saw 1 goose in the morning and killed it and didn't see another until 3:00.  But then the geese started to roll and they ended up with 12.  I'll see if Bryce or any of the boys have pics that we can post up.

Monday was a low key hunt with only 2 of us out there.  Once again the morning was slow with a little trickle coming out of town and the majority of birds heading back into town.  By 2:00 the skies opened up and the geese began to come out in waves.  The birds were once again stubborn but Rod and I were able to shoot a handfull by the time we decided to call it quits.

We still have thousands of geese in Rochester and we'll be hunting them all the way until January 1st.  Give Bryce or me a call to set up a memorable hunt!

Tuesdays Hunt

The good hunting continued Tuesday.  With all the snow melting the geese have been a little tougher than usual for this time of year but as you can see by the pictures we were still able to have a really nice hunt.  I hope the remainder of the goose season treats us as good as the first week has!

If anyone is interested in a last minute Christmas present give us a call and we'll set you up with the best stocking stuffer!
